Understanding Uric Acid
Uric acid is a waste product from the breakdown of purine. Purine is made
within our body and can also be found in high purine foods we eat. Most uric acid leaves our
body through the kidneys in the form of urine. But an excessive build up can cause
hyperuricemia -uric acid crystals that settle in our joints and cause extreme pain.

Watch out for High Purine Foods
Purines aren’t all bad but you want to avoid high amounts to prevent an
excessive build up of uric acid. With that in mind, it’s best to cut down on purine-rich
meat and vegetables, as well as sugary drinks and alcohol, especially beer.

Tips to reduce Uric Acid

Reduce intake of purine-rich foods
Avoid foods that have high purine levels: organ meat, shellfish,
dried mushrooms, sardines in oil, anchovies and duck.

Adopt a healthier lifestyle
Drink 8 glasses of water, and exercise for at least 30 mins a day.
Also, avoid alcohol and soft drinks.

Regular consumption of urinary alkalinizer
Consult your healthcare professional today to find out how Ural®
reduces uric acid levels to prevent crystallization of urates in gout therapy.
